Sudan civil war
The war between the Sudanese army (SAF) under General al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary under Hemedti, ignited 15 April 2023. Coverage clusters around three framings: legitimate-state counter-insurgency, humanitarian / genocide catastrophe (El Fasher, Darfur, Kordofan, hospital strikes, famine), and external-backer contest (UAE accused of arming the RSF, Egypt and Saudi Arabia backing the army).
