Dawn is Pakistan's oldest English-language newspaper, founded in 1941 and based in Karachi. In our feed its attention is split almost evenly between Pakistan and the United States, followed by Iran, India and Israel. Politics dominates, with security and economy behind it, and diplomacy is the largest single subject. Its headlines are skeptical of the United States, Donald Trump and the Indian government, and favourable toward Pakistan's leadership for much of the period.
Dawn's headlines are consistently skeptical of Donald Trump and the United States, using distancing verbs such as "says" and "claims" rather than endorsing his statements, and critical of India and its government. Israel is treated critically but factually. Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are treated neutrally at the start of the measured period and favourably, in a respectful and state-aligned tone, from spring onward. China and Iran are treated respectfully, Iran more so in the later months. The measurement works from the outlet's headlines toward countries and persons; it is not a rating of accuracy.
Based on headlines from January 2026 to August 2026.
Each row is an entity (country or person) this outlet covers regularly. Each cell shows the outlet's stance toward that entity in that month — colour from red (hostile) to green (supportive), opacity from headline volume. Click a column header or any cell to open that month's full report.

Dawn was founded in 1941 by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and is headquartered in Karachi. It is published by Pakistan Herald Publications, part of the privately held Dawn Media Group.
Pakistan and the United States lead by a similar margin, followed by Iran, India and Israel, with the Levant, Gulf states, China, Palestine and Afghanistan further down. Politics and diplomacy dominate, and economy and society take smaller shares.
