Azerbaijan and Türkiye Deepen Ties at Baku Talks

Azerbaijan and Türkiye held talks in Baku in mid-September 2026, centered on a visit by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The two sides discussed preparations for an upcoming summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), a 110-point economic roadmap, and new long-term projects, and said they would continue coordinated efforts in the South Caucasus.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Fidan, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's foreign minister called the visit symbolically significant. Aliyev also described the European Parliament as a nest of corrupt figures. The two countries marked the anniversary of the 1918 liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic Army.
