Russia and Ukraine Trade Strikes on Energy and Rail Targets

In mid-September 2026, Russia and Ukraine continued exchanging long-range strikes despite a claimed energy truce. Russia launched about 200 drones overnight, with 187 downed and explosions in Kyiv that killed one person and wounded seven. Moscow's defense ministry said its troops struck railway infrastructure in western Ukraine, and Russian forces hit two ships in a Ukrainian Black Sea port.

Ukraine struck a Russian refinery, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv would pause strikes on Russia if Moscow spared critical infrastructure.
