Houthis say they attacked Saudi vessels off Yemen’s Mocha

In Yemen in August 2026, the Houthis said they attacked Saudi vessels off Mocha in the Red Sea. Reuters reported the claim, and the Jerusalem Post reported a Houthi claim of a missile attack on a Saudi ship. Times of India and Iran's IRNA described a strike on a Saudi military ship and four boats.

Accounts of the missile fire differ. Dawn reported two hypersonic ballistic missiles fired towards Mokha, Al Arabiya reported five ballistic missiles towards Bab al-Mandab and renewed shelling of Mocha, and the Yemeni government said a salvo was fired towards Bab al-Mandab. i24NEWS reported that Iran's IRGC is sending commanders to Houthi areas and supplying intelligence for a stepped-up confrontation with Saudi Arabia.
