The US military has begun a naval operation in the Strait of Hormuz, blocking ships from leaving Iranian ports. CENTCOM, the US military command for the Middle East, says six ships were stopped from sailing out of Iranian ports in the first 24 hours of the operation.
Some reports note that at least one tanker linked to China reversed course after approaching the area. The operation has effectively halted commercial ship traffic to and from Iranian ports in the strategic waterway.
