Trump pauses Hormuz operation to pursue Iran deal

President Donald Trump has paused a US operation in the Strait of Hormuz, known as 'Project Freedom', to focus on reaching a nuclear deal with Iran. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth urged South Korea and other allies to help maintain safe passage through the strategic waterway. Iran separately announced a transit mechanism for the strait.
