IAEA: Secret Syrian Reactor Was Nearly Complete and Weapons-Capable

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a secret nuclear reactor built during the Assad era in Syria was almost complete and configured for producing weapons-grade nuclear material. The IAEA chief stated that the reactor, which was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike in 2007, could have been used for nuclear weapons production. The facility was reportedly designed to produce plutonium, a key ingredient for nuclear arms. The findings shed new light on the extent of Syria's covert nuclear program before its destruction.
