Trump delays planned summit with China's Xi Jinping

Mar 17, 202619 sources

Summary

President Trump has asked to delay a planned summit meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The request comes as the United States is engaged in a military conflict with Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said he expects the meeting with Xi to happen in about five or six weeks. The delay casts uncertainty over the recent truce in the U.S.-China trade war and has put Taiwan, which is closely watching U.S.-China relations, on alert.
