Coal mine blast in China kills at least 90, rescue underway

A gas explosion at a coal mine in northern China has killed at least 90 people, with nine others still trapped underground, according to state media. The blast occurred in the city of Shenmu, Shaanxi province, and is one of the deadliest mining accidents in the country in recent years.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for an "all-out rescue" effort, and six national rescue teams have been dispatched to the site. The death toll has risen sharply from initial reports, as rescue operations continue.
