Severed Fiber Line Grounds Flights in New York, Boston, Philadelphia

A severed fiber optic cable disrupted air traffic control communications, causing hundreds of flight cancellations in New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. The outage occurred as world leaders gathered in New York for the UN General Assembly. Workers cutting cables at a US radar center are reported to have caused the damage. Separately, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that AI companies will be required to register in the state, and she has not ruled out a 'kill switch' for AI systems.
