IRGC claims attack on US base in Kuwait

On 16 July 2026, the IRGC said it attacked a location of US forces at a US base in Kuwait. Iran said it targeted US bases in Kuwait and Jordan, including US facilities at Al-Azraq base in Jordan, after a new wave of US strikes, and also US military radar and defense systems in Kuwait and Bahrain. IRNA said the IRGC shot down a US MQ-9 drone.

Kuwait and Bahrain said their air defenses intercepted new Iranian drone attacks, and CENTCOM struck Iran. Al Jazeera wrote that the US struck Iran and a tanker, and France 24 wrote that a desalination plant in Kuwait was hit as the US and Iran escalated attacks on infrastructure.
