Venezuela earthquake death toll nears 3,000

The death toll from back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to nearly 3,000, with 16,592 people injured. Authorities report that restaurants and bus stations have been converted into field hospitals to accommodate the wounded. Brazil has sent 6 tons of vaccines and supplies to support the earthquake response. In the ten days following the twin quakes, Venezuela has experienced more than 800 aftershocks.
