Domestic

Iran conducted military and security operations in the Persian Gulf. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy seized two vessels, which the Iranian government stated were involved in fuel smuggling. Concurrently, the IRGC Ground Forces held drills along the Persian Gulf coast, showcasing advanced weaponry. Iran also issued a warning to the UN regarding environmental risks from US military activities in the region, while other countries separately warned Washington that Iranian missiles pose a threat to US interests and allies.

International

Saudi Arabia pursued multiple defense partnerships. The country signed a new defense and military cooperation agreement with Somalia. Separately, the United States approved a potential $3 billion sale of sustainment equipment for Saudi Arabia's F-15 fighter jet fleet, following recent joint naval exercises between the two nations. In a separate development, Turkey and Saudi Arabia announced plans to significantly deepen their defense cooperation. A key element of this is a potential joint investment in Turkey's KAAN project, a program to develop a new fighter jet. The two countries also stated a shared commitment to collaborate on international peace and security issues.
