Yemen
Yemen is a fragmented state where competing authorities hold power and central government is limited after prolonged conflict. It controls access to the Bab al-Mandab chokepoint on the southern edge of the Arabian Peninsula, which gives its war an outsized effect on Red Sea shipping. Its economy is disrupted by war and relies on humanitarian aid, remittances and imported food and fuel. The standing issue is the conflict around Yemen and the Red Sea front, with regional rivalries and aid access tied to security conditions. This page follows Yemen's news, politics, economy and security month by month, with the standing conflicts explained.
