Gunman attacks Michigan synagogue and preschool before being killed

A man drove a vehicle into a synagogue and preschool in Michigan and was then shot and killed. A security guard was injured, but all children and staff were reported safe.

The attacker was identified as a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Lebanon. An official said he had lost relatives in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon. The synagogue's director said security training and preparations helped prevent further harm.
