Workers have begun removing President Donald Trump's name from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The removal comes after a judge upheld an order requiring the name to be taken down, rejecting a last-minute legal bid to stop it.
The Kennedy Center board had voted to remove Trump's name following the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Trump had been appointed to the board during his presidency but was removed after the attack. The removal operation began early in the morning after a missed deadline to appeal.
