Nepal-China Floods Kill Over 1,000 People

In late August and early September 2026, severe flash floods and landslides in Nepal and neighboring parts of China, including Tibet, killed more than 1,000 people. The death toll surpassed 1,056, according to officials, with mass burials taking place in Nepal as rescue teams reached remote areas to search for survivors.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, and there is particular concern for the safety of women and girls affected by the disaster. Meanwhile, celebrities have donated up to 265,000 dirhams to support flood victims.
