The United States conducts airstrikes and increases security cooperation with Nigeria

The United States has carried out airstrikes in Nigeria, reportedly targeting the Islamic State group. Trump has warned that further U.S. air strikes in the country are possible.

In addition to the military action, the U.S. is strengthening its cooperation with Nigeria on security. This includes a U.S.-Nigeria working group holding a strategic security session and the U.S. voting for $413 million to fund security operations in Nigeria and other countries.
