Iranian official says at least 5,000 killed in nationwide protests

An official Iranian source reports that at least 5,000 people have been killed during nationwide protests in Iran. A US-based activist agency has verified a lower figure of 3,919 deaths. The Iranian judiciary has also hinted at executions in connection with the protests.
