Russian strikes leave Kyiv without power and heat during freezing winter temperatures

Russian attacks on Kyiv have caused widespread power and heating outages as temperatures drop well below freezing. The mayor, Vitali Klitschko, says hundreds of thousands of homes are affected and has urged residents to consider leaving the city to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.

President Zelensky reported that the strikes killed at least four people and injured 19, and damaged the Qatari embassy building. Ukrainian officials say over 1,600 buildings remain without heat, and hundreds of thousands of people are without electricity.
