Egypt says it will train Palestinian forces and keep Rafah crossing open under strict limits

Egypt's prime minister, Mostafa Madbouly, told a meeting that Egypt is committed to training Palestinian security forces and empowering a Palestinian National Committee to govern Gaza. He said Egypt will not allow the division of Gaza.

At the same time, the key Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt has reopened, but with strict limits on who can pass. Israeli and Egyptian authorities are blocking most Gazans from using it, and there are increased security measures due to fears of smuggling to Hamas.
