Thousands of ISIS detainees are being transferred from Syria to Iraq

The United States military has transferred thousands of ISIS detainees from prisons in northeastern Syria to Iraq. Reports indicate more than 5,000 fighters have been moved, with Iraq's government confirming the receipt of over 2,200 individuals.

This transfer comes as ISIS has declared a 'new phase' of operations, launching daily attacks in Syria that have killed Syrian government personnel. The U.S. military has also conducted dozens of airstrikes against ISIS targets in Syria in recent weeks.
