Brazil's environmental agency, Ibama, fined the state oil company Petrobras 2.5 million reais for an oil spill during a drilling operation in the Foz do Amazonas basin. The country's oil regulator, ANP, said strong ocean currents contributed to the accident.
ANP has now authorized Petrobras to resume drilling the well in the Amazon Basin, following the investigation into the spill.
