Hong Kong Court Jails Tiananmen Vigil Leaders for Up to 7 Years

A Hong Kong court sentenced former leaders of the Hong Kong Alliance, the group that organized the city's annual Tiananmen Square vigil, to prison terms of up to seven years on September 11, 2026. The activists were convicted of inciting subversion in a national security trial. The sentences range from five to seven years for the three defendants. The Hong Kong Alliance had organized the June 4 candlelight vigil for decades before it was disbanded under the national security law.
