Talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad have ended without a deal after more than 21 hours of negotiations. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Baghaei, said the two sides remain far apart and accused the US of making “unlawful requests” and shifting its demands during the discussions.
Iran stated it was “inches away” from an agreement but rejected what it called US “maximalism” and a breach of earlier promises. Pakistan, which hosted the talks, said it was committed to upholding the ceasefire. US negotiators have left Islamabad, and no date for a second round has been set.
