Israel and Hezbollah clash despite partial ceasefire plan

Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah have continued to exchange fire in southern Lebanon, even after both sides accepted a US-brokered partial ceasefire plan announced by President Donald Trump. The United Nations reports rising tensions along the Blue Line, the UN-demarcated boundary between Israel and Lebanon.

The Israeli military says it killed 20 Hezbollah members and seized hundreds of weapons north of the Litani River in recent days. Two Israeli soldiers were lightly injured by a Hezbollah explosive drone. The UN chief has proposed a new post-UNIFIL force for southern Lebanon amid Security Council debate on how to stabilize the region.
