Germany is preparing to permanently station a brigade of about 5,000 soldiers and 105 Leopard tanks in Lithuania by 2027. The move is a response to the threat from Russia.
Bundeswehr official Thomas Röwekamp says he may have to order soldiers to go to Lithuania because not enough are volunteering. The German brigade will also take command of soldiers from other NATO countries stationed in the region.
