OpenAI has released a new version of its AI model called GPT-5.4. It comes in two versions: a 'Pro' version and a 'Thinking' version, which the company says is better at handling complex knowledge work.
The company is also preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO) and has hired the law firms Cooley and Wachtell to help with the process. At the same time, OpenAI is expanding its business offerings by releasing new AI tools specifically designed for the financial services industry, putting it in more direct competition with other AI companies like Anthropic.
Separately, following a recent deal with the Pentagon, OpenAI says it is working to add new safeguards to prevent its technology from being used for unauthorized surveillance.
