Danish leader says a U.S. takeover of Greenland would end NATO

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has stated that if the United States were to take over Greenland by force, it would mean the end of the NATO alliance. She and other European officials have been responding to renewed speculation about U.S. interest in the territory, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Frederiksen argued that such an action by a NATO member against another would make the alliance's collective defense pact pointless. The comments come amid reports that President Donald Trump has previously expressed interest in acquiring Greenland, leading to diplomatic tensions and a show of European solidarity behind Denmark's sovereignty over the island.
