Japan has disputed a U.S. intelligence report that described recent remarks by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Taiwan as a 'significant shift' in policy, calling the findings inaccurate. The report, which came ahead of a planned U.S.-Japan leaders' meeting, also assessed that China is not currently planning a military invasion of Taiwan in 2027. China has separately offered Taiwan energy security assurances in exchange for peaceful reunification.
