Israel launches major strikes on Iran, hitting Tehran and weapons sites

Israel has carried out a significant wave of military strikes inside Iran, targeting the capital city of Tehran. The Israeli military says it hit weapon factories and ballistic missile storage sites in central Iran, and also claims to have killed a top Iranian intelligence official in one of the attacks.

In response, Iran struck a Kuwaiti oil refinery. The exchange of attacks comes as Israel is also engaged in clashes with Hezbollah in Lebanon, pushing the group further north.
