Israel carries out strikes in Tehran, Iran hits Kuwaiti oil facility

The Israeli military says it has carried out a wave of airstrikes in and around Tehran. The IDF states the targets included weapon factories and storage sites for ballistic missiles in central Iran. It also claims to have killed a senior Iranian intelligence official in a strike earlier this week. One of the strikes reportedly damaged the historic Sa'dabad Palace complex.

In response, Iran launched an attack that hit a major oil refinery in Kuwait. The exchanges come as many Iranians were celebrating the Persian New Year, Nowruz, with videos showing crowded markets in Tehran despite the ongoing airstrikes. President Donald Trump seized on the events rhetorically, mocking Iran's leadership.
