Germany nominates top general for senior NATO military committee position

The German government has nominated Carsten Breuer, the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, to become the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. This is the highest-ranking military position within the alliance. Concurrently, NATO has launched a new permanent mission called 'Arctic Sentinel' to increase surveillance and deterrence in the Arctic region.
