Iran sentences Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi to more years in prison

An Iranian court has sentenced human rights activist Narges Mohammadi to several more years in prison. Mohammadi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023, was already serving a previous sentence.

Her lawyer stated the new sentence is for six years, though some reports mention seven or seven and a half years. The charges are related to her activism against mandatory headscarf laws and the death penalty in Iran.
