Iran allows Iraqi oil tankers to pass through Strait of Hormuz

Iran has announced that Iraqi ships are exempt from any restrictions on using the Strait of Hormuz and are allowed to pass through. This comes as Iraq's oil industry had been at a standstill because the strait's shutdown was preventing exports.

Iraq has thanked Iran for allowing its oil tankers through. An Iraqi oil official said the country could restore its oil exports to pre-war levels within a week if the strait reopens.
