Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told a visiting U.S. delegation that he remains a supporter of President Donald Trump. He stated there are no political articles in Belarus's criminal code, a point of contention with Western nations.
During the talks, U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Coale discussed the release of individuals considered political prisoners. Coale conveyed an invitation from Trump for Lukashenko to attend future meetings of a 'Board of Peace' and suggested a personal meeting between Trump and Lukashenko, or a visit by Lukashenko to the U.S., could happen soon.
