Sweden proposes stricter citizenship and asylum rules affecting families and LGBTQ individuals

Sweden is proposing a new citizenship law that would make it very difficult for stay-at-home partners to gain citizenship. The proposed changes could also affect children's ability to become citizens.

Separately, Sweden is tightening its asylum rules. The country plans to require asylum seekers to live in designated centers and is set to deport a Kenyan LGBTQ activist whose asylum claim was denied.
