Iran is reportedly considering allowing some foreign oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping lane. The condition for passage, according to reports, is that the trade for the oil be conducted using China's yuan currency, not US dollars.
So far, Iran has permitted at least one tanker from the company Dynacom to pass, and its envoy has confirmed allowing some Indian vessels through. This comes amid broader tensions and reports of ships being stranded in the region.
