US says it has reduced Iran's ability to threaten Strait of Hormuz

The United States military says it has significantly degraded Iran's ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. It stated this was achieved by destroying specific Iranian facilities that posed a threat to the vital waterway.

Separately, Iran has stated it is ready to allow Japanese commercial vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz. South Korea also said it is in consultations with Iran and other nations to secure safe passage for ships through the strait.
