Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the upcoming G7 summit or in the United States. The offer comes as President Donald Trump, who is not currently in office, claimed to have had conversations with both leaders and described them as "very good." Trump also said both sides are open to steps toward ending the war.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov dismissed Zelensky's proposal as a "show of toughness" and criticized what he called nationalist sentiments in Germany. The G7 summit is expected to include discussions on ending the Ukraine war, following Trump's earlier push to take the Iran nuclear deal to the same forum.
