NATO shoots down a ballistic missile from Iran over Turkish airspace

NATO air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile that was fired from Iran and entered Turkish airspace. The Turkish defense ministry said the missile was neutralized over the Mediterranean.

Iran denied firing a missile toward Turkey. NATO officials, including Mark Rutte, said there are no plans to trigger the alliance's collective defense clause, Article 5, in response to the incident. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed a swift response.
