Argentina and Brazil's leaders clash ahead of major trade deal signing

Tensions are rising between Argentina's President Javier Milei and Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The conflict is happening just as the Mercosur trade bloc, which includes both countries, is preparing to sign a major trade agreement with the European Union.

In a recent move, Brazil announced it would stop managing Argentina's embassy in Venezuela, handing that responsibility over to Italy. Milei is also aligning himself politically with supporters of Brazil's former president, Jair Bolsonaro, who is a rival of Lula.
