United States announces new sanctions targeting Houthi funding and weapons networks

The U.S. Treasury Department announced a new round of sanctions aimed at disrupting the Houthi rebels' financial and weapons networks. The sanctions specifically target alleged oil smuggling operations and other funding sources.

Separately, the U.S. also imposed sanctions on the Muslim Brotherhood in three countries, while designating Iran's interior minister and other officials. In a related development, the International Criminal Court prosecutor had to attend a United Nations Security Council meeting remotely because of existing U.S. sanctions.
